Black Gold: You’ve figured out a way to craft gunpowder. Given one week of downtime and basic tools, you can produce [level]×2 charges. Charges can be used to create:
- 1 charge: Two Grenades (1d6! damage, 10' blast radius);
- 1 charge: Bomb (2d6! damage, 20' blast radius);
- 2 charges: Keg (3d6! damage, 30' blast radius);
- 4 charges: Barrel (4d6! damage, 40' blast radius);
- 8 charges: Hogshead (5d6! damage, 60' blast radius).
All explosives deal exploding damage (rolling the maximum on a die adds another die to the total). Targets in the blast radius may save for half damage. You can precisely cut fuses to any duration down to the second.
Mad God: Your formula is volatile and customizable. Choose one innovation that you can apply to crafted explosives:
- Magnesium Powder: Failed saves blind targets for 1 round per damage die. If first innovation: gain dark-tinted safety goggles.
- Mercury Fulminate: Failed saves deafen targets for 1 round per damage die. If first innovation: gain a tub of wax.
- Naphtha Oil: Failed saves cause targets to catch fire (1d8 damage per target’s HD each round; save to extinguish). If first innovation: gain a fire blanket.
- Blacksmoke Mixture: Blast radius fills with choking smoke (blocks vision, 1 min/charge indoors or 1 round/charge outdoors). If first innovation: gain a crude gas mask.
- Cast-Iron Shells: Explosives deal damage in d8!s with half blast radius. If first innovation: gain handmade heavy armor.
- Rocketry: Create rockets that fly 100' in a straight line before detonating (d4! damage). If first innovation: gain a telescope and fireworks bundle.
King Toppler: All your explosive damage is doubled against structures. With enough gunpowder and set up time, you can bring down anything smaller than a castle. You have a [level]-in-6 chance to spot structural abnormalities, like slanted floors, secret passages and hidden mechanisms, on close inspection.
Raincoat: You take half damage from debris and shrapnel. If you would be allowed a save for half damage, you can save for no damage instead.
Grand Finale: When you are reduced to 0 HP, you can instantly detonate all charges on your person.
